PostHeaderIcon Few facts about Signing applications for S60 3rd Edition

S60 3rd Edition requires all Symbian applications to be signed, that’s one of the bigger changes that came with Symbian 9.1 operating system. This has led to some confusion among developers, who think they need to apply for a certificate (which costs money and takes time) even to be able to show a ‘Hello world’ on the screen. This was very confusing for me too for some time, but now I got it. Hope this helps somebody out there.

PostHeaderIcon Deleting “Stuck” Installer Files in S60 3rd Edition

I have seen a problem with “stuck” installer files in S60 3rd
Edition phones for a couple of times. The information from Application Manager shows that the applications are not installed. However, they cannot be deleted because there is no Delete menu (see screenshot below). They cannot be re-installed either because it always fails with “Unable to install” message. Those files are basically just stuck there.

PostHeaderIcon Debranding Nokia BB5 Handsets

Debranding – Some Nokia Handsets are locked to service providers like AT&T, Orange, 3 mobile, vodafone etc. These handsets come with their customized firmware and you can’t install any other sim card.

So by changing the firmware to common models any sim card can be used with those sets.

Note:If you handset is “Service Provider” Locked or “Network Locked”, then only debranding won’t help, scroll down to view unlocking procedure.

To debrand you need to change the product code.
